Austrian drummer, composer and bandleader Klemens Marktl, known far beyond his home country, brings his brand-new group Xperience to the stage. Klemens’ ensembles often feature jazz stars from around the globe, and this time the line-up includes saxophonist Tim Armacost from New York. Armacost is one of the most in-demand musicians on the NYC jazz scene and was nominated for a Grammy award this year — an accolade he already won in 2020 as a member of the Emilio Solla Tango Jazz Orchestra. He continues to draw attention with his long-running New York Standards project, and has collaborated with greats such as Al Foster and Roy Hargrove.
The rhythm section is held down by much sought-after bassist Stefan “Pista” Bartus, while rising star Borna Pehar is on keyboards. The band’s sound is best described as contemporary New York jazz, which is where Klemens Marktl finds a constant source of inspiration for his new compositions.
Audiences can expect a contemporary jazz set — the spirit of the NYC jazz scene at our festival — and a performance full of energy and flair.
